Windows List separator settings may cause CSV Return Value of Excel xlsx contents not to separate columns properly with commas

Title: Windows "List separator" settings may cause CSV Return Value of Excel (.xlsx) contents not to separate columns properly with commas.

Q.  I am using CSV as Return Value of a plugin and reading data from an Excel file (.xlsx). However the CSV results put all columns in one column and do not separate them correctly. How do I fix it?

A. One likely cause is the settings of your Windows. Windows has a setting called "List separator". It is hidden deep at the bottom layer of Region settings (for some Microsoft reason).

Please follow the steps below. It should fix it.

Windows

Go to

Settings => Region => Related Settings (Additional date, time, and regional settings)

You will now arrive at

Control Panel\Clock and Region

Click Change date, time, or number formats

Click Additional settings...

List separator to comma as in the second popup window.
